ENBE PROJECT 1

Introduction

This is our very first site visit to analyse the important factors of the environment. Our first approach on experiencing the nature after visiting Taman Negara. The project requires us to do an infographic pop-up poster about an assigned topic plus a stamp design. Me and my team had been assigned to this topic which is Ecosystem.

The aim of this project is to expose us to many factors of the nature, to observe and think critically about the 5 senses of the environment. There are also

Reflection

I have learnt

  1. To be observant about the nature and find many aspects that I always overlook in observing the environment.

  2.  I also learnt about infographics which I failed to deliver my final project as an infographic poster.

  3. Besides that, I too manage to lead the presentation during presentation day. It was a full learning process and I gained a lot of knowledge about the built environment and the elements in the nature. It was a tough process as we did not look into the specific topic that we can look further into and have only a rough thought about the topic.

  4. I realised I could look more into the topic as the topic is general and has various ways to deliver it into a presentation.

About Project

Firstly, it was hard for me to get to know to this project as I was blur and did not know what to expect and present a desirable presentation for this assignment. The groups are decided randomly by lecturers as this is the first assignment. To be honest, I took it easy at first, not knowing what will the conclusion will be and not putting much effort into this. I suffered as I have no idea on the topic given and my group has no opinion on my ideas and opinions. I took the chance and my groupmates agreed on the ideas that I gave, that made me doubt on my progress on the assignment. My tutor during tutorial was Mr. Paul Nickson Atia, who is one of our lectureres for this moudule, ENBE too. Mr Paul gave us suggeestions and comments on our progress but it did not come with a conclusion as we did not know what is our specific topic was after 3 tutorials.

The mistake that I learnt from this assignment is to get a certain and finalized decision on the specific topic or details regarding the assignment as soon as possible and not last minute. We changed and changed our specific topic many times as our topic "Ecosystem" is very general and can almost think of whatever we want to present. But unfortunately, we did not get hold of the idea of the topic and neglected the fact that it can be elaborated more.

During the process of making the presentation boards, we did not research much on the infographic posters, but decided to have an alternative way of creating an infographic poster. We proceeded with the finalized design. It was all too late when I found out it was not the appropriate way in making an infographic poster. I also did not do the infographic poster as a team as I was doing it alone, that taught me a huge lesson to work as a team for future projects.

The presentation was on the 31st of March 2016 in Lecture Theater 8, Taylor's University Lakeside Campus. The panels includes our lecuturers, Ms. Delliya Zain, Ms Iffa Nayan, Mr. Paul Nickson Atia and a few seniors that are in Bachelor in Architecture. The feedbacks that we got from the panels was average and not convincing in the presentation on the infographic posters.

Explaination on Infographic posters

and Stamp Design

Our Title given for our Infographic posters and Stamp Deisgn was Ecosystem. We were required to also follow the site of Taman Negara where we visited into the infographic poster. We chose to talk about the ecosystem of four layers of the tropical rainforest, specifically the forest floor which also known as the forest ground where the flora and fauna lives and moves on the soil or the ground.

The first infographic poster decribes about the general terms and facts of the ecosystem and four layers of the tropical rainforest. There are also facts on the world's tropical rainforest as an overall. It is basically a general description on the tropical rainforest and what we observe in Taman Negara.

The second infographic poster is described with more details on the specific topic on the forest floor. It adds up with explanation of food web and microclimate of the topic through visuals.

The final infographic poster provides short-listed flora and fauna on the forest floor of the tropical rainforest tha can be found and sums up the basic information on each living organism that are listed on the poster. The description provides facts on the flora and fauna that are chosen.

The Stamp Design actually has 4 A4 size paper combined together as a whole picture. It can be separated into 4 A4 papers as an individual stamp as its own. The stamp design shows the flora and fauna that lived on the forest floor and some are actual examples that we have seen during our visit to Taman Negara. There are many opinions on the stamp, some panels thinks it looks like a whole painting and not a stamp. But there are also some panels who like the idea of making 4 stamps into one whole picture of the forest floor. We even point out the characteristics of some animals, their habitat and way of camouflage. For example, tapir is very sensitive and does not make a big appearance because it would hide from its predators. In the poster, we considered the characteristic of the animals on the forest floor when coming up with the finalized design.
