Introduction

The second assignment is a group-based work that is given a specific site for site analysis. In a group of 5, we were to understand the site context of a given park that was assigned to. Along with my group who are Sheryl Tan, Kar Hui, Tia and Natalie Chen, our given site was Taman Bandaran Kelana Jaya in Kelana Jaya. Taman Bandran Kelana Jaya is a community park that has many visitors all year long. It is a popular park for anglers too. 

 

Project Scope

There are two tasks to complete-

Task 1

Introduction to the site

(general info, brief historical background, size of the site, etc.)

- Site Contextual Study

(location inside and outside surrounds the site, layout design, etc.)

- Human Activities

(main regular activities, occasional activities, active/passive)

- Space / Zoning

(description about the zoning of whole area, space arrangement (public/private space) within the site, some visual study if necessary)

- Circulation Pattern

(the circulation path for both pedestrian and vehicular, the start and end or stopping points in between, parking etc.)

- Plantings

(plants groups, location of the plants, brief description with appropriate images)

- Hardscape Materials

(types of hardscape/structure found on site, the materials with appropriate images)

Task 2

- Design solution to the park

with ideas all in sketches/drawings/pictures/diagrams, all conceptually

We were required to do four or five boards all based on Task 1 &2. Every board could be done digitally and printed out during presentation day.
